A message from TOISNOT MIDDLE SCHOOL

Happy Monday to all of our Hawk Families.  This is Mrs. Sullivan, principal of Toisnot Middle School calling with a message from Coach Lucas.  There will be a Football Camp at Fike High School from 5:00-7:00 MondayTuesday and Wednesday this week.  All players are asked to come out and be a part of the camp.  Don't forget!

Hello Hawk supporters.  This is Kendra Dumong with the weekly reminders from

Toisnot. Be on the look-out for our tickets to the academic banquet that you purchased. The banquet is invitation only for students earning As and Bs all year. It will be held on Monday, May 22nd at the Moose Lodge. The tickets went home with your student on Friday. Tuesday, May 23rd is our Chorus concert with th grade starting at 6:00 and 7th and 8th grade performing at 7:30. Make sure you have returned all your materials from the media center and paid any fees you may owe. Testing begins May 25th and TMS needs you to call Mrs. Dixon to volunteer to proctor! As always thank you for your continued support of Toisnot.

Hello Hawk supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell with the weekly reminders. First of all, we hope you all have noticed our new banner out front that boasts the fact that Toisnot was voted the favorite middle school in Wilson! For your calendars please mark Monday, May 15th at 6:00. This will be our awards for spring sports. Mark Tuesday, May 16th at 6:30 if you are a 7th or 8th grader interested in Cross Country.  There is a meeting at the Fike track. Also, on Tuesday at 6:00 TMS will have PTO and our spring band concert. 6:00-PTO, 6:30-6th grade band, and 7:00-8th grade band. Come out for all three. Be on the look-out for an invitation to the academic banquet which will be held on Monday, May 22nd. Make sure you have returned all your materials from the media center and paid any fees you may owe. Testing begins May 25th and TMS needs you to call Mrs. Dixon to volunteer to proctor! Hello Hawk supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell with the weekly reminders. First of all TMS would like to send a big Thank You to the PTO, Mrs. Jennifer Smith and all the volunteers who helped to make our teachers feel extra appreciated during Teacher Appreciation Week. Also, the PTO will be here on Wednesday for you all to pick up your Gerber Daisies. Pick up begins at 2:30. Tuesday night at 5:30 we will host our last Title 1 event. Come out and learn all about opportunities for summer literacy. PTO will also meet Tuesday night. See you Monday with your ChromeBook charged. Chargers are not supposed to be at school. Charge your ChromeBook at home and do not let others use it. Remember, YOU are responsible!

Hello Hawk supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell with the weekly reminders. Welcome back tomorrow and we hope all had a safe and restful holiday. Monday is back to work.  We have less that 25 school days left before end of year testing begins. Progress reports should come home Tuesday. Please check with your learner to obtain these reports. Spring Special Olympics are Thursday at Hunt High School beginning at 9:00. PTO is still selling those beautiful Gerber Daisies. They are only $5 each and will be here just in time for Mother’s Day.  Go ahead and mark your calendars for May 15th if you have a learner playing a spring sport. The awards presentation will begin promptly at 6:00.  CC is Tuesday at Speight. Wednesday is soccer at Springfield with baseball and softball at home vs. Springfield on Thursday. See you Monday with your ChromeBook charged. Chargers are not supposed to be at school. Charge your ChromeBook at home and do not let others use it. Remember, YOU are responsible!

Hello Hawk supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell with the weekly reminders. This week is short, only four school days since we have spring break coming up. Tutoring will be everyday in the AM and only Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon.  There will be no after school tutoring on Thursday since we do not attend school on Friday. On Monday, softball and baseball have a doubleheader at home v. Darden and soccer will be at Darden. On Tuesday, Cross Country is at Nash Central.  Wednesday, softball and baseball are again at home v. Speight with soccer away at Speight. On Tuesday, AVID will travel to ECU to visit campus and Wednesday, TMS will host all rising 6th graders. This is rescheduled due to the 2 hour delay last week. TMS also plans to reschedule the clean up day as we did not have a large sign up for this past Saturday. See you Monday with your ChromeBook charged. Chargers are not supposed to be at school. Charge your ChromeBook at home and do not let others use it. YOU are responsible!

Reminder that PTO is selling Gerber Daisies! Prizes to all students who participate. Ask your learner about supporting TMS PTO with beautiful daisies for only $5 each.

Hello Hawk supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell with a few reminders. Hopefully the weather will be more cooperative this week and we can actually get some ballgames in. Monday is soccer at home vs. Speight while baseball and softball will travel to Speight. Tuesday is cross country at Edwards. Wednesday is soccer at home vs. Springfield with baseball and softball at Springfield. Thursday is soccer at home vs. Darden. I want to let you all know that I will be out of the building on Tuesday at a principal’s meeting and also on Wednesday at a training.  If you need anything, Mrs. Dixon will be available. I will be checking my emails, but not my voicemails. The grading period ends on Friday, so please check Power School to make sure your learner is doing well. Hello Hawk supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell with reminders for the week. Battle of the Books will practice on Monday and Tuesday until 5:00.  Girl’s soccer tryouts are on Wednesday and Thursday. We have clubs on Friday and the all county chorus will rehearse from 4:00-5:30 in the auditorium. If you did not receive progress reports last week from your child’s teachers, please give us a call. Hello Hawk supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell with reminders for the week. I want to let you all know that I have received my first ever summons for jury duty. I have to report Monday after lunch.  I am letting you know in case you need to contact administration, you should try Mrs. Dixon.  I didn’t want you all to think I was ignoring my messages or emails.  Please check the website for all information regarding tryouts for spring sports. In order to try out, students must have a current physical. Students who owe fees have received or will receive a  notice tomorrow as to how much and for what they owe. Please help out TMS and take care of all fees asap...some are lunch, some are chrome books and some are media. As always, thank you for your continued support of Toisnot! Hello, this is Mrs. Cockrell calling from TMS with the weekly reminders. Monday is a teacher workday. We have a BIG fundraiser taking place Tuesday night starting at 4:00. Bring the family, feed them all and you don’t have to cook or clean up.  Let us serve you. It is our 2nd annual Spaghetti Dinner.  Many of you have tickets already and students please bring in any orders you have left on Tuesday so we can get everything ready for Tuesday night.  Early report card pick up will begin at 4:00 also. !  You can come out and get your child’s report card a day early, pick up dinner or sit down and join us!  Big reminder, WECA interviews will be held Tuesday morning. Remember to dress to impress!  Letters of acceptance are scheduled to come home on Friday.  Wednesday is a leadership team meeting at 3:50 in the media center.  All parents are invited!  And...Thursday is our last basketball game at Elm City.  See you there! This past week your child took a very important Mock EOG.  Please contact his/her teacher to find out how that went.

Good evenings Hawks, I'm hoping you all fared well during the winter storm. We look forward to seeing our students tomorrow which is an A-Day. 

 Tomorrow January 12 our girls and boys basketball team will travel to Forest Hills for an away game. The game will begin a 4:15 please stop by and show our HAWKS some love.

 On January 17th we will be hosting our Halftime Show Title 1 event. The event will begin at 6:30. Please come and get warm and cozy with us, sip some hot cocoa, and watch our students and staff put on a performance for you. They will be presenting on a Day in the Life of a HAWK. 

 On January 19th our Hawks play against Speight at home, we will have our first ever Paint it Pink Night. It is our goal and Coach Anderson's dream to share with our student-athletes that there is much more to life than basketball and that basketball can be an avenue to have a great impact.  On that same night we will be hosting a bake sale with all funds going to the Kay Yow Cancer fund.  Please consider purchasing items during the bake sale and helping us with this event.

 Also on January 19th Toisnot's Positive Behavior Intervention System team will be hosting our first ever Zaxby's night from 5-8pm. Please stop by and grab dinner at Zaxby's on this night.

 We have also kicked off our Annual Spaghetti Dinner Plate Sale. Information should have been sent home with your child. Plates are $7 each and will be ready to pick up from 4pm-6pm on Tuesday January 24.

 I know, that was a mouthful and a lot of events happening within the next two weeks. But as the old sayings goes if you can't participate in them all don't miss them all. So choose a event or 2 or 3 and we'll be glad to see you. As always we appreciate your continued support of Toisnot have a great night!

Hello Hawk supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell reminding you all that we have a regular school day tomorrow, January 2nd.  It is a make up day for Hurricane Matthew. The tardy bell rings at 8:25 and each of you should be in your desk ready to work. This means come prepared.  You should always have your backpack, notebook, pencil, paper and your Chromebook charged.  If you do not yet have a Chromebook, please contact Mrs. Angie Morgan, our media specialist.  All Hawks should have a Chromebook! All Hawks should be bringing in box tops to turn into Mrs. A Morgan also. This is an easy fundraiser for our school. I will meet with each grade level during 1st elective to review the academic and behavioral expectations Toisnot has for each student. As always, thank you for your continued support of Toisnot! Also, tomorrow your child should receive progress reports from all teachers.  In sports this week, Toisnot travels to Springfield on Monday. Both teams are playing well. Hello Hawk supporters.  As always, thank you for your continued support of Toisnot! See you tomorrow, December 12, a B day, with your Chromebooks charged. Go ahead and mark your calendars for Wed., Dec. 21st.  All WCS middle schools will dismiss at 1:30. The Chorus concert was well planned and the students performed beautifully! We made the newspaper Saturday. The money raised at the silent auction was used to put three high top tables and 12 stools in our cafeteria for the students. Our Band will perform their Winter concert Wednesday night with 6th Grade @ 6pm and 7th & 8th @ 7pm. See you in the auditorium. In sports this week, Toisnot travels to Darden on Monday and to Speight on Thursday.

Hello Hawk supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell letting you all know Monday, Dec. 5th is a
B day. See you at 8:00 am tomorrow with your Chromebooks fully charged. Our 8th graders traveled to Fike on Friday to hear their chorus. The word I received was how very mannerly and well behaved the Hawks were!  Parents be proud!  I know we are!  We have our first home basketball game tomorrow against West Ed.  Thank you to all who came out and helped to support the Hawks in our first annual RED/Black game.  Tuesday Dec. 6th is a BIG day.  Toisnot will host several events for students and parents beginning at 6:00 pm.  We will open the doors at 5:30. Every parents needs to be here...lots of take home information regarding ways to help your child succeed in school. Both WECA and WATT will be out with information for interested 8th graders, Chorus at 6:00 and again at 7:30. We will also have a silent auction to raise money for three “cool” high top cafeteria tables. It’s a big night and we want you all here with us!  Thursday is basketball v. Hello Hawks.  This is Mrs. Cockrell letting you all know Monday, Nov. 28th is a
B day. Parents and students I want to take a moment to remind you all of the behavioral expectations at Toisnot. We pride ourselves in knowing our students are safe and well mannered. Some students have experienced  recent difficulty meeting classroom, hallway, and restroom expectations. Please know those students who meet TMS behavioral expectations will be rewarded with Hawk Eyes utilizing Positive Behavior reinforcement.  Those students who may fall short will receive a reminder and be asked to call home to let you know they will receive lunch detention for 1 day. I am saddened to have to make this type of announcement to all of TMS. On a better note...TMS will end November with progress reports coming home on Monday and a visit for the 8th graders from WECA, the Early College, at 8:30 AM on the 29th. We will begin December with a visit from WAAT at 8:30 AM Thursday, December 1st.  All 8th graders will be able to hear a short presentation regarding opportunities for them at WAAT.  Parents, you are welcome as well. We will be in the auditorium for both presentations.  Please know that WAAT has rescheduled their parent night for Dec. 6th. That is also the big date for our chorus concert. OUR BIG RED/BLACK BASKETBALL GAME WILL BE HELD THIS THURSDAY AFTER SCHOOL. WE HOPE YOU ALL CAN ATTEND AND WATCH MRS. COCKRELL AND .DIXON TRY TO COACH. Hello Hawk supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell letting you all know Monday, Nov. 20th is a 

B day. We have a very short week due to the Thanksgiving holiday; however, two days of instruction are crucial as we review our district benchmarks in order to gain information regarding how each student is progressing toward year long goals.  Please ensure your child is with us and on time. Mark your calendars now for the BIG RED/BLACK game here at TMS. December 1st 4:15-5:15.  You want to be here!

All ButterBraid order forms were due to the PTO on Friday.  If you forgot, no worries, we will take them tomorrow. Please know that WAAT has resheduled their parent night for Dec. 6th.  That is also the big date for our chorus concert. TMS will end November with progress reports coming home on the 28th and a visit for the 8th graders from WECA, the Early College, at 8:30 AM on the 29th. We will begin December with a visit from WAAT at 8:30 AM Thursday, December 1st.  All 8th graders will be able to hear a short presentation regarding opportunities for them at WAAT.  Parents you are welcome as well. A day. TMS wants to thank all parents who have signed up for a teacher conference after receiving report cards. Students have completed benchmark testing. Please give us a call or an email and we can discuss your child’s results with you.  Monday evening at 6:00, TMS will host awards for all Fall sports, football, volleyball and boy’s soccer. Hello Hawk supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell with a few reminders for the week. Monday is an A day and also the day to pick up your mums beginning at 12:30 and ending at 5:30. Monday also begins our spirit week with Tacky Day, Tuesday is Super Hero Day, Wednesday is Prevent Bullying Day--wear Orange, Thursday is is our first Pep Rally and everybody should wear RED and BLACK. See you at the football game.  We will be cooking hamburgers and hotdogs. Friday is College Day. Make sure you abide by the dress code; however, you can wear a hat if it goes with the theme of the day. We have volleyball and soccer at home on Monday. Volleyball and soccer will be away at ECMS on Wednesday and again, football on Thursday at home! On Wednesday the 19th, the PTO plans to kick off our annual ButterBraids sell. They are way to yummy and make wonderful gifts for the holidays. As always, thank you for your continued support of Toisnot!

Hello Hawk supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell with important information with the up to date changes in schedules.  Beware, they may change again...stay tuned and check the website..Mums will be delivered to TMS on Monday, October 17th. You may pick them up down by the softball field beginning at 12:30 and ending at 5:30.  IF students return to school on Thursday, we have football scheduled at Springfield. Since the game is away the home team decides if we play or not.  If there is a change, parents and students will be notified immediately. Monday the 17th, we are home for volleyball and soccer v. Springfield. Wednesday the 19th, we have soccer and volleyball away at ECMS and it is a soccer double header.  Thursday the 20th, is our BIG rival game against ECMS...See you on the football field at 4:00 come hungry because we are serving hamburgers and hotdogs (unless it rains). This is the week to sell those mums!  Only 5.00 dollars each!  Who will  be the highest seller?  Volleyball is away this week on Monday and WednesdayThursday, we have football at home.  It is a big games for the team and we hope to have a record crowd.  The PTO will be cooking your dinner.  Hamburgers and hotdogs will be on the menu.  Come out at 4:00 with your family and enjoy!

Hello Hawk supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell calling from Toisnot.  No, it is not Sunday!  I want to invite you all out to school Thursday night, after you come to the game of course, up to the building at 5:45.  We are having a special night.  We will be opening the brand new Clothes Closet at TMS, better than any yard sale, having some delicious snacks and drinks since we will be hungry and thirsty after the game. AND...offering all kinds of ideas on how you can make sure your child does their homework and how important the upcoming 8th grade ACT ASPIRE test is. As you know homework is an important extension of daily learning and also part of your child’s grade! Hello Hawk supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell with reminders for the week.  First..keep selling those mums! PTO will meet Tuesday night at 6:00 in the media center, please join us. We have three days of home games this week. Monday is volleyball and soccer v. W. Edgecomb. Wednesday is volleyball and soccer again v. Forest Hills (should be two good games) and Thursday is our first home football game against W. Edgecomb.  Look forward to seeing you all at all these games.  I will be late on Wednesday due to a TMS leadership team meeting.  All parents are invited to this also at 4:00 in the media center. Hello Hawk supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell with important information regarding the upcoming week.  First of all, just a reminder that Monday is a holiday...NO school...second...another reminder is that students cannot be on campus until 8:00 when school opens, it is a safety issue as there is no one to supervise them. Before school care applications are available from Central Office. Again, we had a successful first week of school. The students have been impressive with their efforts and hard work! TMS wants to thank all parents who attended our Math night and to let you know that all schedules should be set by this Friday. Our goal is always within the first 10 days of school. We have had several new enrollments and our data manager is working hard to get all students into the system.

 

Please make sure you have taken care of all Chromebook paper work for you child.  This is very important as the Chromebooks will be an important tool for learning this year.

 

Final cheerleading tryouts will be Wednesday from 3:45-6:00.  This will be a closed event.  Also, the volleyball jamboree is Wednesday at Elm City Middle School and the football jamboree is Thursday at Darden. Don't forget to look at the Toisnot Gear flyers that came home last week. The website is there...do online and order your TMS gear through Friday, 9-9-16. If you have questions, ask Coach Anderson. Hello Hawk supports and happy last week of school. We will wrap up testing this week with make ups and the Math 1 EOC on Tuesday.  Monday is our last big PBIS celebration at Toisnot Park. Thursday is 8th grade awards day beginning promptly at 9:00. Doors will close prior to the ceremony beginning. Thursday is also an early release day.  All students will be released at 1:30Monday each child should bring home a letter with all EOG scores listed.  We were unable to send them home on Friday due to waiting for 8th grade Math scores. As always, thank you for your continued support of Toisnot.

Hello Hawk supporters. This is Mrs. Cockrell calling from TMS. I hope you all enjoyed the extended weekend. This is a big week for TMS.  EOG testing begins on Wednesday. Please have your child at school on time. Your child was given a green form for you to complete and turn in by Friday if you plan to check them out early on testing days.  This is only to speed up the check out process for you, not to encourage your child to miss school. We will call all students to the auditorium after ALL testing is completed. You will be able to sign your child out at the table set up there. We will be unable to allow any check outs before testing is completed and we will be unable to allow walkers to leave early unless the green form was signed by a parent. Verbal permission can not be granted due to safety concerns. June 9th is early release and also our 8th grade Awards at 9:00.  June 3rd is the 8th grade dance and it is for 8th graders only!  Your student can bring an 8th grader from another school with your written permission and mine.  As always, thank you for your continued support of TMS.

Hello Hawk supporters. First, I would like to apologize for the early morning call on Sunday.  I clicked AM instead of PM.  If I woke you, my apologies.  I woke me too! Make sure you have these dates on your calendar.  Tonight, Tuesday night we get to enjoy our chorus concerts.  6th grade is from 6:00-6:30 and 7th & 8th grades are from 7:30-8:30. Wednesday at 7:00 we begin our Band concerts and we wind up on Thursday at 6:00 with our Athletic Awards Banquet. My last message said 7:00.  I was incorrect.  Please change it to 6:00. June 2 please join us at the Simon Awards. Our very own Alexis Baumgartner is a finalist for Teacher of the Year. Please join us at Hunt HS at 6:30 to cheer her on. WE ARE STILL IN NEED OF PROCTORS...PLEASE CALL MRS. DIXON. You should have received a letter yesterday regarding testing. It basically says...EOGs are here and so are NCSE.  Please have your child at school on time, well everyday, but it is super important on May 26, June1-2-3-6 and 7.  June 9th is early release and also our 8th grade Awards at 9:00.  June 3rd is the 8th grade dance and it is for 8th graders only!  Your student can bring an 8th grader from another school with your written permission and mine.  We like to know the parents know and I call the school for a reference. Message from Principal, Mrs. Cockrell 

Hello Hawk supporters. TMS Staff wants to say a HUGE thank you to all parents and to the PTO for organizing teacher appreciation week.  All of our surprises were truly enjoyed! This past  Wednesday, May 4th was  our last Parent Time this year and before school tutoring at 7:30 as a group has ended due to participation. Many of the teachers are holding tutoring sessions before and after school.  Please take advantage. Go ahead and mark your calendars for BIG events in May.  The week of May 23 is busy!  Monday night TMS will host our Academic Stars at the Moose Lodge at 6:30.  This is an invitation only event.  Please contact Mrs. Wise if you have questions. Wednesday at 7:00 we begin our Band concerts and we wind up on Thursday at 7:00 with our Athletic Awards Banquet.  We still have 3 or 4 students who need to pick up and deliver their Gerber Daisies. Hello Hawk supporters. This is Mrs. Cockrell calling from Toisnot with a few bits of important information. First, you should have received your child’s report card on Thursday of this past week. If you did not, please check with your child to see why. We are in the last grading period for this school year. It has gone by quickly and we have truly enjoyed your children and want to thank you for sharing them with us. The last fundraiser of the year started Friday. PTO is sponsoring a Gerber Daisy sale. The flowers are bright colors and beautiful in the summer. Each one is only $5.00 and as you know we are working toward putting new carpet in the auditorium. We need each family to pitch in and sale sale sale! Cash Prizes for top sellers, prizes for the top selling homeroom and prizes for the teacher who sales the most! Orders and money will be collected on April 29th. The PTO meets Tuesday night at 6:00 and all parents should attend. In sports this week we have baseball and softball away on Monday at ECMS while soccer is at home. Tuesday is soccer at home again v. S Edgecombe and Thursday is softball and baseball away at S Edgecombe.

Hello Hawk supporters.  This is  Mrs. Cockrell asking you to please go into parent portal and check your child’s grades.  One week in March is already behind us.  Our goal is for each child in the building to make a 4 or 5 on the EOG and to be promoted to the next grade. We will need your help in accomplishing this task.  Please check your child’s homework each night (and yes, they have it).  Also, please make sure your child comes to school prepared with paper, pencil, and all necessary materials. Free tutoring is before school at 7:30 every M_W_F and after school until 5 every M-T-Th.  March 9th is parent night at Fike in the auditorium for 8th graders and their parents.  Mr. Holley and counselors from Fike will be at TMS on Monday morning at 8:30 intour auditorium if you would like to join us. Hello Hawk Supporters. This is Mrs. Cockrell calling from Toisnot with your weekly reminders. Please know the students have asked to reschedule the dance we had to cancel due to weather…we will celebrate on March 18th from 4-6:00pm to raise money for our end of the year PBIS trip. Tickets will be on sale beginning tomorrow morning and at lunch for $3.00. They will be $5.00 at the door. Only Toisnot students may attend. Make sure to check the website for information regarding spring sports practices and tryouts and games. With over half the year over and report cards coming up in April, we encourage you all to check your student’s grades. Our goal is for each student to be successful, and to score a 4 or 5 on the EOG. Please take advantage of parent time…the first Wednesday of each month. We are here to answer any questions and help your child be successful. As always, thank you for your support of Toisnot.

Message from Principal, Mrs. Cockrell

Hello Hawk Supporters. This is Mrs. Cockrell calling from Toisnot with the weekly reminders. Try outs for softball and CC begin on Monday after school. Girls soccer tryouts begin on Tuesday after school. Also, on Tuesday, TMS will host a school leadership team meeting for all who want to join us at 4:00.Thursday night welcomes new BETA club members at 6:30. The following week begins big decisions for 8th graders as the high school registration process begins. Parents please be aware that we are monitoring the restrooms as closely as possible; however, TMS has students who continuously decorate them with the toilet paper provided and stuff the rolls into the toilet. This leaves a mess for the custodians, not to mention for your child. Classes will be escorted to the restroom by their teachers. If your child has a medical reason they may need to use the restroom more often, please make sure TMS has written confirmation from a doctor. Our goal is to provide a clean and safe educational environment. One last reminder is for you ALL to take advantage of the free tutoring services offered M-W-F mornings with Mrs. Cockrell from 7:30-8:00 and after school with Ms. Harrision and Ms Winter on M-T-TH until 5:00.

Hello Hawk Supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell calling from Toisnot with your weekly reminders.  Please know the students have asked to have a dance this Friday after school.  We will celebrate Valentine’s Day from 4:00-6:00.  Tickets will be on sale beginning tomorrow morning and at lunch for $3.00.  They will be $5.00 at the door.  Only Toisnot students may attend.  Make sure to check the website for information regarding spring sports practices and tryouts. Congratulations to all students who were awarded an interview with WATT or WECA.  Those will begin on Monday as well as a representative from the HS coming in to talk with all 8th graders regarding pursuing the IB track. BETA club inductions are coming up, check the website for that information also.  Friday is AVID college day.  Everybody should wear their favorite college apparel including your favorite collegiate hat!  We hope you all stayed warm and safe during the weather and will let you know about the snow make-up day as soon as we know.  As always, thank you for your support of Toisnot.

Hello, this is Mrs. Cockrell calling from Toisnot. We want to encourage you all to talk with your children regarding bullies and bullying. TMS has an ANTI-Bullying campaign underway right now with a great many activities going on.  Please check our website for more information on bullying and other activities at Toisnot. Also,please remind your child(ren) how important it is to keep hands, feet and hurtful comments to themselves. As we wind our way thru the anti-bullying campaign and move toward March with our annual BAN THE R WORD DAY, we are reminded to treat others as we want to be treated. Hello, this is Mrs. Cockrell calling from Toisnot. I hope you all stayed warm and safe during our weekend weather.  Reminder that Tuesday, Jan 26th from 4:00-6:00 is our report card pick up and Spaghetti dinner fundraiser with PTO.  Students bring your order forms to school on Monday and turn them into your homeroom teacher.  You will receive your tickets on Monday also. We hope to see you all out here to check on your child’s grades and share dinner. If you have a question about your child’s grades, please email or call the teacher this week.  We are halfway through the school year and our goal is for each student to be successful and promoted! Now is the time to buckle down if needed. Basketball is away at Darden on Monday and at Speight on Thursday. TMS will host a school leadership meeting on Wednesday at 4:00 and all are invited. On Friday afternoon our students will celebrate their positive behavior and good grades. Hello, this is Mrs. Cockrell calling from Toisnot with your weekly reminders.  This one is short as our school week will be. Monday is a holiday. Thursday and Friday are teacher workdays...so, we will only see the students on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, and Wednesday is an Early Release Day. Our PTO spaghetti dinner fundraiser is underway.  I have sold 40 tickets this weekend.  Who is going to beat me and sell more than that?  Mark your calendar for Jan. 26th to come out and eat spaghetti and pick up your child’s report card.  BIG home game on Tuesday against Forest Hills...It is a black out….so, wear all black to school on Tuesday...even a black hat!  The first 40 students into the game will receive free Toisnot shades to wear!  We need you all in the student section cheering on our teams. Also, take advantage of Toisnot’s free tutoring and homework sessions.  Students will have internet access and a certified teacher available to work with them. We are here every Mon., Tues., and Thursday...pick up is 4:45. As always, thank you for your continued support of Toisnot.

Hello, this is Mrs. Cockrell calling from Toisnot with your weekly reminders.  This one is short as our school week will be. The AIG program is having a fundraiser at 5 Below November 23rd - 29th.  If you shop, simply tell the cashier you are here for Wilson County’s AIG program.  We have a work day on Wednesday.  Thursday and Friday are holidays.  Please be safe and enjoy your time off from TMS.  This is a great time to catch up on homework, work on Accelerated Math, read, review your class notes and organize your AVID binder.  Make sure you have all needed materials such as notebook paper, glue sticks, pencils and small scissors in your pencil pouch in the front of your binder when you come back to us.  Also, take advantage of Toisnot’s free tutoring and homework sessions.  Students will have internet access and a certified teacher available to work with them.  Hello this is Mrs. Cockrell calling from Toisnot with your weekly reminders. In your child’s report card you should have receive a military connection letter.  Please complete this letter and return it to school by November 16th. Also, on Dec. 14th we have a mobile dentist coming to our school.  If you are interested in your child receiving dental care, please ask your child to pick up the forms from Mrs. Avent. We have clubs on Friday. It is not too late to join a club if your child would like.  We are getting well into the second 9 weeks and want to remind you and encourage you to review homework with your child each night.  You should also have picked up your child’s parent portal information so you can keep a close check on grades.  If you have any questions regarding grading, homework, or parent portal, please call us. Free homework lab has been open for a week, every Mon., Tues., and Thurs.   Please take advantage of this free tutoring service.

 In sports this week we are hosting the girl’s basketball county  jamboree on Thursday starting at 4:00.

Hello Hawk Supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell with your reminder call, on a Monday.  First we want to say a BIG thank you to the PTO and all who sold and bought Butter Braids.  Will Fogelman was the highest seller and wins the $100 gift card.  Ms. Little’s class is the top selling class AGAIN and will receive the pizza party! Homework Lab begins today.  It is free of charge and you will need to be picked up by 5:00. Homework Lab will be every Mon., Tues., & Thurs.  Wednesday is a holiday and there is no school. Please sign and return report card envelopes if you have not already. All fall athletes need to turn in uniforms please. Hello Hawk Supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell with your Sunday night call. The Wilson County Health Department is offering Tdap and Meningitis immunizations for current seventh-graders on Sat., Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to noon and Wed., Sept. 16 from 4-6:30 p.m. The Health Department is located at 1801 Glendale Drive. Please bring your insurance information and call 252-237-3141 for an appointment.  

Wednesday the 16th is an Early Release day. Make sure your child knows how s/he is getting home.

The 18th is the last day to complete the Parent AdvancEd survey.  Please make sure you have done this for Toisnot.

This week in sports we have volleyball and boys’ soccer on Monday at home v. S Edgecomb at 4:00. On Wednesday just the volleyball team travels to West Edgecomb. On Thursday the Football team plays at home v. S Edgecomb at 4:00.

Teachers, parents, and students don’t forget to be ready this season to have dinner with the family at the games as we will be grilling hotdogs and hamburgers along with drinks, candy and popcorn for dessert.

There will also be mums available for you to order at the game! All mum orders are due 9-25-15.  As always, thank you for your continued support of Toisnot.

Hello Hawk Supporters.  This is Mrs. Cockrell with your Sunday night call. Be on the look-out for a Toisnot Pride Gear order form.  I have already purchased a new toboggan, visor, shorts and a long sleeve T-shirt. The prices are good.  The flyer gives you clear directions of how to order online. Or you can see Coach Anderson. Orders are due by Sept. 15th.  We cannot accept late orders. Thanks to EB Sports who will be donating a percentage of all sales to Toisnot and has discounted the available items for us.  Gotta show that Hawk pride at the games!

The mum sale is going great.  They will be delivered on Thursday, Oct. 1 and we need parent volunteers to help us with that. Please.  Keep selling!

Monday is a holiday, no school and Tuesday, Toisnot will vote for Student Government Officers.  Good luck to all with your speeches. The Fall book fair is gearing up for September 21-25.  More info to come.

The cafeteria has asked that all charges be taken care of this week please.  If you need a lunch form, they are still available in the office.  However, administration has nothing to do with the decisions.  If you have a question about the lunch forms, you will need to contact the cafeteria directly.

This week in sports the Volleyball and Football teams will play in their season opener jamborees.  The Volleyball team travels to Forest Hills on Wed. 9-9 and the Football team travels to ECMS on Thursday, 9-10.  Boys soccer will continue to practice for their first game on Mon.,  9-14 against S Edgecomb here at home.  Be ready this season to have dinner with the family at the games as we will be grilling.

Message from Principal, Mrs. Cockrell

Hello Hawk supporters. This is Mrs. Cockrell calling from Toisnot with a lengthy weekly message. Please listen to it in it's entirety as it ends with sports. 

We want to thank you all for a great opening week of school.  We need all parents to log on to www.wilsonschoolsnc.net, click on parents, click on AdvancEd Parent Survey and complete the survey even if you completed one at Open House.

Reminder that all car riders must be picked up and dropped off in the front of the school on the red.  Safety first!  We are adding additional people to help speed up the process and also asking that you all please write your child's name of a piece of paper and place it on your dash.

All schedule request change forms were due on Friday.  We hope you got yours turned in.  Also SGA forms were due and students will campaign this week. 

Club sign ups will begin soon, our goal is next week. 

Our mum sale is in full swing!  They are only $5. Less expensive than any place in town. The high seller get $150, the highest selling homeroom gets a movie and popcorn and the highest selling homeroom teacher get an extra planning period.

Volleyballl will continue with tryouts on Monday and Tuesday from3:45-5:00, boy's soccer tryouts will start Tuesday from 3:45-5:00 on the football field.

Cheerleading and Football have completed tryouts and they will continue with practice this week. As always thank you for your continued support of Toisnot.

Good evening Hawk supporters Mums are still on sale and will be up until September 23rd. The proposed delivery date is October 1st. The child that sales the most mums wins a sizable cash prize of $150. So sale, sale, sale! Everybody loves a bargain and parents $5 a mum is a bargain.

This week on September 2 we will be having our first Parent Night from 3:45-4:45. We welcome you to come out and speak with your child’s teachers and learn about all of the fantastic things your child has been doing thus far. We also welcome you to ask the teachers questions if you have any. Parent night is designed to keep you informed and involved in your child’s education. Remember it takes a village and we need your support!

Another way to keep informed of your child’s progress is through Parent Portal. Parent Portal enables you to see your child’s grades in all of their classes. You can pick up the login information for your child from their homeroom teacher on Wednesday at Parent Night or you can set up a time to come by and pick it up later on at your convenience from the homeroom teacher.  As always thank you for your continued support and we hope to see you Wednesday afternoon!
